Whole30 Days 13 and 14

Apparently I didn’t post yesterday, I uploaded pics to do so but forgot, I guess.

So yesterday – woke up at 6am and was ready to go.

Breakfast – 7:45am – I had a sweet potato that isn’t pictured, steak and eggs

Got some stuff done and then ran errands with David. After our errands, we went to the gym for a quick workout. I did 31 min – 5 walk, 21 run, 5 walk for 2.62 miles.

Lunch – tuna mixed with avocado and green beans, grapefruit – around 12:30

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAThen I spent all afternoon decluttering and organizing the house with David.

Dinner was around 6 – kielbasa, peppers, onions and green beans

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAI went to be around 9pm and fell asleep by 930pm. I woke up 30 minutes before my alarm today at 530am. I’ve been sleeping so much better. I guess I can attribute that to Whole30.

Had some coffee, egg muffins, 1/2 an avocado and some applesauce at 6am

IMG_20140119_060348_760I met a friend at her house and then drove to meet our running group. I drank 1/3 coconut water, 2/3 water on the drive in. I ate a clementine and banana when we got there at 7:45am and then packed a Peter Rabbits Organics, dried mango and dates for run fuel. We had 12 miles scheduled. It had started snowing, so it was a bit slippery. I started out with my friend and ran nice and easy. We hooked up with another girl at a water stop around mile 4 and then I ran a bit ahead after that because I was feeling awesome. There were 2 water stops, I had 1/2 the fruit squeezy Peter Rabbit thingy and a piece of dried mango at each. I didn’t eat the dates. 2 cups of water at each station. I avoided the candy and gatorade easily.

IMG_20140119_061932_815I got back a bit before my friend and had my post-run leftover kielbasa, and green beans with a sweet potato, along with the dates and clementine. I mentioned the twizzlers looking good to me to her and she told me I deserved one after 12 miles but I wasn’t even that tempted because I feel so good and don’t want to slip up.

IMG_20140119_101229_677(I promise there is kielbasa on the bottom of that).

Ran a few errands and then came home and ate again around 12pm. I browned some ground beef, scrambled in2 eggs and then some sweet potato with a little s&p. It was delish.

IMG_20140119_115702_593(even Dash wanted some!)

Now my chicken is in the crockpot for the week. Watched our football team lose and ate chicken drumsticks that David grilled.

IMG_20140119_151418_958I have also snacked on some pistachios and dried fruit watching the games. I’m feeling really good 2 weeks in. My awesome run made me feel really good about my fuel.

Whole30 Day 8 + Goal Check-in

Before I get to today – I want to take a look at the three goals I made at the beginning of last week

1. I will not use electronic devices 30 minutes before bed (and I will not check my phone when I wake up in the middle of the night)

– I’ve accomplished this 4/7 nights so far, so not great. Sporting events + insomnia have contributed. I am looking to improve on sleep this week.¬†

2. I will complete Stage 1 of NROLW

РAlso not good. I strained my neck and took a lifting break. I will be back at it tomorrow.

3. I will spend more time with my husband

– Yes. This is going well.

On to Day 8!

I slept really well last night. I was still groggy this morning. I actually stopped and got a large iced (black) coffee on my drive because I was scary sleepy. I think it’s just a combination of a long run yesterday and not great sleep last week. I’ll be going to bed early again tonight. (Which means I need to be off the computer soon).

Breakfast – egg muffins, clementines and almond at 8am

breakfast8I’m also happy to say last weeks constipation issues are completely gone! So relieved.

Lunch – chicken + vegetable soup from my homemade broth, green beans + tomatoes at 12pm

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERANo snacking at all this afternoon, and I wasn’t hungry at all. I had today off from running so I came straight home and David was making dinner.

Dinner – salmon + broccoli with ghee and sea salt; After dinner – dried mango + pistachios at around 6:15pm (yes, the dog wanted my dinner. she did get some broccoli (sans salt and ghee) in her bowl)

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAOkay, I’m off to read and bed!

Whole30 Day Two

First I’m reminding myself of my goals for these 30 days:

1. I will not use electronic devices 30 minutes before bed (and I will not check my phone when I wake up in the middle of the night)

2. I will complete Stage 1 of NROLW

3. I will spend more time with my husband

I succeeded in number 1 last night which also gave me a bit more time for number 3 too. Sweet.

I got in bed early last night because of my lack of sleep the previous nights, I read and relaxed until 8pm when David came in. Then I had to take a sleep aid because my neck was aching too much to get sleep. I tossed and turned for a bit. I know I got two solid chunks of sleep, 10-2 and 230-530. I was up around 5:45 and felt good. I had time to get ready for the day, organize my meals, finish yesterday’s blog and spend some time with the dog.

I got to work around 8am and ate breakfast: 2 egg muffins, 2 clementines, 1/4 avocado, some almonds and dried mango

breakfast2

It’s 9am as I write the first part of this entry and besides my awful neck pain, congestion and cough, I feel good hah. I’m sucking it up and going to the doctor today because I’ve been coughing for 1.5 weeks.

Lunch at 11:45 – green beans, cherry tomatoes and chicken. All very good.

lunch2

I went to the doctor and she said it was just a lingering cough and gave me some cough meds with codeine for nighttime, which is when it’s the worst. Then I met David at the gym. I walked 5 minutes, ran 10 minutes at 5.5mph, 10 at 5.7mph, 5 min walk cooldown. Nice, easy recovery run.

Dinner at 6:21 – sweet potato, chili and almonds. A very brown dinner haha.

I haven’t had the expected hangover type feeling that I read about in the Whole30 Daily. I feel pretty good. Now if only my neck and cough would join the party!
